DEVELOPMENTAL NEUROBIOLOGY COURSE
The Developmental Neurobiology Course will take place will take place from January 31 to February 11, 2022. It is organized by the Department of Anatomy, Histology and Neuroscience (UAM) and the Instituto Cajal (CSIC) in Madrid. The event is oriented for MSc and PhD students.
The theoretical-practical course will focus in understanding the molecular and cellular processes that govern the development of the nervous system. The course will cover from early stages of neural plate induction, the regionalization and patterning of the neural tube, the generation of the peripheral nervous system, neurogenesis and gliogenesis, neural cell migration, axonal growth, the establishment and organization of neural networks and finally the organization of the cortex brain and sensory organs. For that purpose, the course will discuss the use of different model systems common in Developmental Biology: C. elegans, Drosophila, chicken, Xenopus, zebrafish and mouse embryos, and also human cells and organoids. The course will also present discussions about human conditions associated to developmental disorders. More detailed information is available here.

Fees: The Developmental Neurobiology is free of cost for students that receive a FENS, IBRO-PERC stipend.
Travel Grants: FENS and IBRO-PERC provide 4 stipends of 750 EUR for master and/or PhD students interested in attending this course. Through these stipends FENS and IBRO-PERC aim to encourage and promote international experience of students; hence, students that are currently residing or studying in Spain are not eligible for a FENS and IBRO-PERC stipend for this course.

The lectures are hosted in different lecture halls of the Medicine Faculty of UAM, Madrid (Seminar room 4 and Laboratory C16) and in the laboratories of the Department of Cellular, Molecular and Developmental Neurobiology in Institute Cajal, Madrid.
