Mandatory Core Courses

Módulo 1

7 compulsory Courses about fundamental contents, totalling 35 ECTS.

  • CELLULAR NEUROBIOLOGY. PHYSIOLOGY OF EXCITABLE MEMBRANES (6 ECTS; First Semester)

Introduction to neuronal and glial cell biology, and to the electrochemical mechanisms and physiological effects of membrane excitability.

  • FUNDAMENTAL NEUROSCIENCE: THE MAMMALIAN NERVOUS SYSTEM (6 ECTS; First Semester)

Theoretical and practical study of the anatomy and functional organization of the various regions of the mammalian nervous system, with a focus on the human brain.

  • NEUROCIENCE RESEARCH METHODS (4 ECTS; First Semester)

Overview of the principles, applications and limitations of the instruments and techniques most relevant in current neuroscience research.

  • SEMINAR CYCLE “FRONTIERS OF NEUROSCIENCE” (4 ECTS; First and Second Semesters)

Seminars (~20) by invited Spanish and foreign neuroscience researchers in which they present and discuss recent advances in their specific fields of research.

  • DEVELOPMENTAL NEUROBIOLOGY (6 ECTS; Second Semester)

Overview of the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that control nervous systems development. The academic year 2019-20 edition of this course has been included in the International Student Exchange Program of the European Neuroscience Schools Network (NENS), supported by FENS and IBRO-PERC 2020.
