Elective Courses

Module 2

Eighteen elective special topic courses are offered. Courses are taught either in the 1st or the 2nd Semester of the academic year, as indicated below. A given course may be offered either yearly or every other year.

  • Neural Plasticity After Neonatal Brain Lesions (3 ECTS)

  • Neurobiology of Sleep and its Disorders (6 ECTS)

  • Neuroendocrinology (5 ECTS)

  • Neuroimmunology (6 ECTS)

  • Psychobiology of Feeding (4 ECTS)

  • Molecular and Cellular Bases of Hearing and Vision (5 ECTS)

  • Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience: Processes and Disorders (6 ECTS)

Module 3:

Five elective Methods Courses are offered. A given Course may be offered yearly, or every other year. Courses are taught either in the 1st or the 2nd Semester of the academic year, as indicated below.

  • Experimental Design Data Analysis and Certification for the use of Laboratory Animals (6 ECTS; 1st Semester)

  • Introduction to Stereological Techniques for Histological and Neurobiological Studies (5 ECTS; 1st Semester)

  • Chemical Structure of the Nervous System: Immunochemistry and Biochemistry (6 ECTS; 1st Semester)

  • Current Methods for the Study of Genetic and Age-related Neurodegenerative Diseases by Using Animal Models (5 ECTS; 2nd Semester)

  • Recording and Analysis Techniques in Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience (4 ECTS; 2nd Semester)
